Isolation.

These days I'm a bit reclusive.
Never realized how alienated I feel.
I recognize you,
maybe you do too.
We greet each other with a lie.
A fake hello and a goodbye.

***

Something's strange.
I feel so isolated.
Didn't realize,
so many folks have gone astray.
I've lost my friends in this life's fray.

***

Are you still on the same page,
Where we last looked up?
Or have you burnt the book,
 and maybe fucked up.
This ain't a fairytale.
 Unless you finish that ale!

***

Gazing into your eyes.
The light that enlightens my soul.
I find it missing.
I snap out of that maze,
searching for a clue.
Afraid, that I'm gradually losing you.
Don't you go away too soon.
We still have to disembark,
on our journey past the moon.

***

You call me your friend.
But that's a dead end.
You know nothing about me.
Can't see beyond the walls,
you're only allowed to read the graffiti.
Inside here, I'm the king of my own city.
Sorry, we don't have that connection anymore.
Oh! You were so close,
to breaking my isolation door...

Conversation.

Saw her at the cafeteria today,
sitting two tables across.
I was with my friends,
she was with another guy,
who probably looked like my boss.

***

I think she saw me there,
we exchanged glances slyly.
I wanted to talk to her,
but I knew it'd be awkward.
The guy left within an hour,
And now she was sitting alone.
"Come on, go ahead talk to her"
cried my inner tone.
I rose from my chair,
proceeding towards her table.
Everything felt like an unusual fable.

***

"Hello, nice to see you here!", I said.
"Oh, hi dear!" she replied.
"Mind if I join?"
"Yes, Of course!
So long, haven't heard from you.
Where on earth have you been?" she exclaimed!
"Haha! I might ask you the same question!"
We laughed and talked for hours,
reminiscing about our old memories.
Her voice felt like a nectar,
dripping from the honeysuckle flowers!
Glad, I broke the ice with a knife.
I was having the time of my life!

***

Suddenly, I felt a pat on my back,
the guy with whom she was sitting earlier was back.
"Get up!" he screamed.
His words kept ringing in my ears,
until I went deaf.
He splashed the glass of ice cold water,
right on my face.
And the next thing I realized,
I woke up perplexed.
"Get up! You sleepy ass!",
shouted my friend.
I was still at my table,
but she had already left...

***

I couldn't conquer,
the walls of my ego and pride.
Maybe I was too shy,
But damn, I didn't even try.
I screwed up my chance.
And now when I look back at that dream,
it was the best conversation I ever had!

Will You Be My Friend.

Set ablaze from the fire,
I burn bright like the sun.
Will you be my friend, dear?
For I'm an excellent seer.

***

Frosted cold, in this daylight.
I reflect wisdom from your glaze.
Will you be my friend, dear?
If I told you my end is near.

***

Never curbed my imagination.
Vivid and boundless.
Infiltrated and pure.
Always wondering,
what makes you so special.
Is it the beauty or the cynosure.
Will you be my friend, lady?
The future seems unsure,
And yes, there's no cure.

***

Just by standing over their viewpoint,
You won't see things clearly.
Brain dead, among these folks.
I seek an asylum for my convictions.
I know you won't be my friend,
but will you at least be my foe?
Like the buck and a doe.

***

Indifferent perceptions,
discrepancies between our hearts.
Accompany me,
we'll travel on the wings of my dreams.
To see, what no one has ever seen.
To be, where no one has ever been.
To feel, what no one has ever felt.
I can't experience this felicity,
all alone.
Oh lady, will you be my friend?
Together we'll transcend beyond,
 these conventional worldly trends.

Monsoon.

Whisperings and ramblings,
the serene weather has it all.
Of migrating flamingos,
visiting over for a brunch.
Birds snuggle,
cozying inside their nests.

***

The perishing grass,
still hasn't given up on its hope of survival.
Hot vapours arising from that teapot,
condense away your troubles.
Nostalgia creeps deep within your head,
Showers of relief,
sing a cradle song for you to sleep.

***

Earthworms surface over,
welcoming this pleasant visitor.
Frogs hopping around,
bubbling with happiness.
As the first few drops crash upon,
earth soaks in its tenderly love.
Aroma of partly wet soil,
hangs loosely in the air.
Oh, the melody of this tranquility.

***

Come with me, we'll saunter across the hills,
I know a place to rest!
Come lay with me, under these dark clouds.
Close your eyes,
relish yourself in this soothing ambiance.
We need no one now,
just the two of us.
Mild drizzles, they fall.
Listen carefully my friend.
As the sky croons,
to mark the onset of monsoon!

The Golden Kid.

You came into this world,
spreading smiles all over.
Your infant tenderness,
made everyone melt with happiness.

***

A curious lad,
you grew up fast.
To learn the secrets,
Moon revolves round the earth,
and the Earth revolves round the sun.
Exploring this vast ocean of knowledge,
drip by drip,
Oh back then,
it was such fun!

***

You became their golden kid,
a diamond bead,
for their ornament of pride.
They loved you a lot.
After all, you were their best shot!

***

But, things change pretty quickly,
Unfortunately.
You committed mistakes and failed.
Shattered confidence, defeated aspiration.
You lost your motivation,
to the perils of procrastination

***

The fear of losing again,
made you hide away someplace far.
The one who had never lost a battle,
was now gradually losing the war!

  ***

Labelled a disappointment,
by this sycophantic society.
Broken from within,
the burden of expectations,
they took you down.
A laughing stock,
they treated you like a clown.
You cry and yelp,
screaming for help,
 as you drown.

***

You were always the golden kid.
Everyone expected you to succeed.
Your will to fight back,
it has died.
Lonely and miserable,
no one by your side.
Oh no! Don't do that!
So what if you've lost every hope?
You just can't quit on life,
to hang yourself,
from that bloody rope!

***

Open books, unfinished words.
A last letter beside the burnt cigarette.
They gaze at your lifeless body,
weeping with regret.
Tears come rolling,
off their eyes
Watching the flames,
rise into the skies.
The stench of pulverized dreams.
Nothing can be done now,
It's too late.
As they helplessly watch,
their golden sunset...

Beautiful Betrayal!

We walked hand in hand,
strolling across the seas.
Happiness knew no bounds,
Away from a world full of fallacies.

***

Twinkling hazel eyes,
It's quite a sight!
Enchanting smile.
Shimmering like the moonlight,
along the aisle.

***

A solitary star sinks,
beyond the shore.
No matter how hard it tries,
it's still gonna kiss the floor.

***

It's not love.
It's not lust.
As I go wandering for you,
amidst stardust!

***

Follow the graffiti,
Oh, let's flee!
I don't even care,
Let's meet our destiny!

***

"I love you!" she says,
the warmth of her embrace.
But then, there's this sudden rush of pain,
as she slowly stabs that knife inside my back.
Gradually her grip goes slack.
Astonished,
I contemplate into her lovely eyes,
Wondering why.
Confused,
whether to smile or to cry.

***

Disguised as a dove,
You cast a charm of love.
It's funny how I never knew.
All along,
it was none other than you!
Words fail to describe,
your deceptive portrayal.
I still can't get over,
this beautiful betrayal!

Desire.

Curls of your desire,
strangle me to death.
I try so hard,
to free myself.
But end up abiding,
onto your breath.

***

There's something strange between us,
a bond of  predilection.
Jiggling between lust and passion,
on a thin line of expectation.

***

This feeling I've got nowadays,
too vague to call it an ambition.
Like an impulsive black hole,
floating across the milky way.
Its greed of swallowing this universe,
causes the galaxies to go astray.

***

Inclination knows no boundaries.
As hovering smoke,
within the fires.
Your desires,
they'll eventually burn you down.
And even if you have the town,
you shall still keep craving,
for that golden crown.
